Interesting Facts & Summary
Architectural Marathons
- Centennial Projects: Many religious buildings took over 500 years to complete due to funding gaps, wars, or changing architectural styles (e.g., from Romanesque to Gothic).
- The Sagrada Familia Phenomenon: Unlike historical projects halted by antiquity, the Sagrada Familia represents a deliberate 'slow building' approach in the modern era, driven by design complexity and high standards.
- Living History: These buildings serve as 'living fossils' of architectural history.
Note: The Sagrada Familia, ranked first, is technically unfinished but functional, a rare feat in architectural history.
